JOB DESCRIPTION -
EMBEDDED SYSTEMS ENGINEER

Build-a-Tech Incubator & Workspace is a hardware technology accelerator with a mission to equip start-ups with cutting-edge resources and custom-tailored mentorship. Build-a-Tech helps entrepreneurs design, build and manufacture products that address everyday quality-of-life issues. You will have the opportunity to work in a world-class workspace, interface with tech innovators as well as collaborate on a global scale. The details of the position are as follows.

BASIC JOB FUNCTION:
Design, build, and maintain embedded hardware and firmware systems to support prototyping, testing, and deployment of hardware products developed at Build-a-Tech Incubator & Workspace.

CLASSIFICATION
: Technical Personnel

JOB TYPE: On-Site / Full-time

WORK HOURS: Monday to Friday | 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM
Saturday | 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM (1 per month)

SALARY: ₦100,000 to ₦150,000 Monthly
determined by relevant years of experience, qualifications and education

LOCATION: Uyo, Akwa Ibom

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and develop embedded firmware for microcontrollers and IoT systems.
Build, test, and debug embedded systems prototypes using platforms like Arduino, STM32, ESP32, etc.
Collaborate with the product design team to integrate electronics into hardware systems.
Conduct circuit design and PCB development using tools such as KiCad or Altium.
Perform bench testing using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
Maintain software repositories and manage version control using Git.
Support technical training and assist participants or interns on embedded-related projects.
Prepare documentation and technical reports on all embedded systems-related activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Strong programming skills in C/C++, Python, or similar languages.
Experience working with microcontrollers, sensors, and communication protocols (UART, I2C, SPI, BLE, etc.).
Solid understanding of electronics principles, power systems, and circuit protection.
Familiarity with PCB layout and schematic design.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and documentation habits.

Optional:

Knowledge of low-power systems and energy efficiency techniques
Ability to simulate and model electronic systems
Experience with cloud-connected or wireless IoT devices

EDUCATION:

Experience and proficiency in the above Duties & Responsibilities and Required Skills sections will be weighed above any educational qualifications. Applicants not possessing the above-listed degrees should not be discouraged from applying.

It is preferred that applicants possess a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
