OPERATIONS ENGINEER

Build-a-Tech Incubator & Workspace is a hardware technology accelerator with a mission to equip start-ups with cutting-edge resources, tailored mentorship, and practical tools that help innovators build impactful tech products. You will have the opportunity to work in a world-class workspace, interface with innovators, and ensure the smooth and efficient running of our technical operations.

BASIC JOB FUNCTION:
Coordinate, manage, and optimise the technical and facility operations of the Build-a-Tech workspace to ensure reliability, safety, and efficiency across all engineering activities.

CLASSIFICATION: Creative / Technical Personnel
JOB TYPE: On-Site / Full-Time
WORK HOURS:
SHIFT A: 08:00 AM – 04:00 PM
SHIFT B: 09:00 AM – 05:00 PM
SHIFT C: 10:00 AM – 06:00 PM
Saturday : 09:00 AM – 05:00 PM (1 Saturday / month)
SALARY: ₦100,000 to ₦150,000 Monthly, determined by relevant years of experience, qualifications, and education
LOCATION: Uyo, Akwa Ibom

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee daily technical operations of the fabrication lab and engineering workspace.
Monitor and maintain equipment including 3D printers, CNC machines, laser cutters, and related tools.
Implement preventive maintenance schedules and maintain maintenance logs.
Troubleshoot equipment faults and coordinate repairs or part replacements.
Monitor power systems and ensure operational continuity of energy infrastructure.
Maintain inventory of tools, consumables, and spare parts.
Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Ensure compliance with safety standards and enforce equipment handling protocols.
Support project teams during prototyping, testing, and deployment phases.
Prepare periodic operational and performance reports.

REQUIRED SKILLS
Strong technical understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
Experience working in a fabrication lab, workshop, or technical facility.
Ability to diagnose and resolve equipment-related issues.
Good organisational and documentation skills.
Strong communication and team coordination abilities.

OPTIONAL
Experience in facility management or lab supervision.
Familiarity with renewable energy systems and backup power infrastructure.
Basic knowledge of embedded systems or automation.
Experience supervising interns or trainees.

EDUCATION
Experience and proficiency in the above Duties & Responsibilities and Required Skills sections will be weighed above educational qualifications.

It is preferred that applicants possess a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
